Easy to assemble
Position the fan so it blows upward, attach the mesh support, and place the cotton batting filtration bag over the structure. Once switched on, the fan fills the bag with air and pushes that air through the batting, helping filter particles from the room.

How The Cocoon Works
When used as part of a properly assembled Cocoon system, a fan directs air through a large fabric filter to help reduce airborne fine particles indoors. The Cocoon is designed to provide a practical, accessible indoor air-cleaning option, particularly during wildfire smoke and other high-pollution events.
Recognition and Performance
The original Cocoon prototype was developed by a Portland State University team and selected as a winning prototype in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s 2024 Cleaner Indoor Air During Wildfires Challenge.
EPA materials report that the evaluated prototype removed more than 80% of PM2.5 within 30 minutes under the challenge’s testing criteria. Portland State University field testing reported an approximately 80% reduction in about 15 minutes.
Note: These results apply to the original prototype, test environments, operating conditions, and components used in those evaluations. Current Cocoon products and customer-created setups may use different fans, filter construction, support methods, or other components. The EPA does not endorse Cocoon Air Quality, its products, or any commercial product, service, or enterprise.

The Cocoon fabric filter is designed to be washable and reusable. Allow the filter to dry completely before reinstalling it. Do not operate the system with a wet, damaged, improperly attached, improperly supported, or obstructed filter.

Fans included in eligible Cocoon kits are covered by a limited six-month replacement warranty, subject to the complete warranty terms, exclusions, and any applicable original-equipment-manufacturer requirements.
The limited fan warranty does not apply to a fan supplied by the customer.
The warranty does not guarantee a particular particle-reduction percentage, air-cleaning result, indoor air-quality result, or health outcome.
